Tips

Maximize Nature’s EfficiencyHarnessing the Power of the Elements

Set your thermostat between 72°F and 78°F. Each degree below 78°F increases energy consumption by about 8%, which can add up to a significant cost over time.
Inspect and clean both indoor and outdoor AC/heating coils. Dirt build-up on the indoor coil is one of the most common causes of poor system efficiency.
Have the refrigerant charge checked. An overcharged or undercharged system will not operate properly or efficiently.
Use bath and kitchen fans sparingly when the air conditioning system is running to avoid wasting cooled air.
Reduce the cooling load through cost-effective conservation measures. Shade east and west windows effectively, and postpone heat-generating activities like dishwashing or baking until evening on hot days.
Check with your utility provider for peak usage times and try to avoid heavy power use during those hours.
Keep your home closed tightly during the day to prevent unwanted heat and humidity from entering.
Ventilate at night naturally or with fans to bring in cooler air and maintain comfort efficiently.
